SMS and Text Messaging Consent

This page describes how Still Safe obtains and uses consent for SMS and text messaging. Messaging consent is collected separately from our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Consent for SMS and Text Messages

By providing your phone number and opting in, you agree to receive text messages (SMS) from Still Safe. Consent is requested explicitly and is not combined with other agreements.

This is the language used when we request your consent. You will not receive SMS or text messages from us unless you explicitly agree.

What You Will Receive

If you consent, you may receive the following types of SMS/text messages from Still Safe:

  • Account verification: One-time codes to verify your phone number when you add it to your account.
  • Safety alerts: Emergency (SOS) alerts, missed check-in notifications, and location-based safety notifications from your contacts who use the app.
  • Invitations: The consent/opt-in message when a contact adds you; replying YES opts you in to receive text messages from Still Safe.

Message frequency varies based on your use of the app and your contacts’ activity. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

SMS Message Examples

  • Still Safe: [Contact Name] would like to send you safety notifications by text. Reply YES to agree to receive text messages from Still Safe, or STOP to decline. Msg & data rates may apply.
  • Still Safe: [Contact Name] missed their check-in. They may need help. Open the app to see details and take action. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Still Safe: [Contact Name] sent an SOS and may need help. Open the app for details and their location. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • You have been unsubscribed from Still Safe text messages. You will not receive further texts. Reply YES to this number to opt back in.

By replying YES to the consent message, you agree to receive text messages (SMS) from Still Safe as described on this page. All users opt in the same way: by replying YES to that first opt-in text message.

How You Opt In

All users opt in the same way. When someone adds you as a contact, you may receive the consent SMS above. You must reply YES to that message to agree to receive text messages from Still Safe. No further SMS or text messages are sent unless you have given that explicit consent.

Opt-Out

You may opt out of text messages (SMS) at any time by replying STOP to any message.
